Houston TV Personality Played Millionaire and Won $30K For The Thirsty

On February 22 and 25, 2019, Living Water International was featured on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” ABC13 Houston meteorologist Collin Myers participated in the Play It Forward week on the show and selected Living Water as his charity. Our staff watched the show live and were thrilled to hear that Collin had won $30,000 for the thirsty!

Collin joined us at our office to watch the second episode, and we sat down with him to hear about his favorite moments from filming the show.

Living Water: What do you love about Living Water International’s mission?

Collin: “What I found interesting is that as soon as I was looking at Living Water’s homepage, … the first thing I saw was not only do they give to those that don’t have clean water across the globe, but it’s also about spreading [the love of] Jesus. And that meant a lot to me, and right there, I knew this was an organization I would feel free to give to.”

Living Water: What was the most thrilling part about being on Millionaire?

Collin: “As you’re watching the TV show, you don’t understand how hard it is. You may read a question, and you’re like, ‘Collin, you should figure that out. It’s easy.’

“But when you are up there, it’s like that thing where you read a paragraph in a book, and you have to go back and read it again because you got nothing out of it.

“Literally, the questions—even though they are one sentence—you go back, and you’re like, ‘This is like a whole paragraph. I’ve got to digest all this information.’”

Living Water: What was the most fun memory from Millionaire?

Collin: “[A] couple of unexpected questions when I had already used all my lifelines—getting down to the final three or four, as far as I got.

“I remember a couple of the questions, by the grace of God, I knew what they were. And that’s a big difference from dropping down to that $5,000 low mark and getting up to $20,000 and $30,000, so I was grateful to get through that. It was fun to guess when you had no other option and get it.”

Living Water: What’s your advice for people who want to positively impact others?

Collin: “As believers, I truly believe, that [God] takes care of us day-by-day if we just have the courage to step forward and go where he has us right now. Go where he has us day-by-day, who he’s surrounded us with, what job we’re in. We can serve right where we are.

“I did for a long time wonder, ‘Okay, where can I serve where I am?’ I’m a local television news personality or anchor, but you don’t always get a chance to express who you are or, all the time, your beliefs to everybody.

“Well, what you can do is live and serve one another, and you can share with one another what you truly believe and show them love, even if you can’t express that directly. So, I would just encourage you—wherever you are—just step-by-step, take it one day at a time, and what’s in front of you is what God has for you.”

We’re so grateful for Collin and the team behind “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” for making this special opportunity possible!
